Saskatchewan sends out PNP invitations to 299 Express Entry (EE) candidates. This takes the total invitations for the province to 1,727 this year.
The new draw was on February 25 in which the province sent out invitations to candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. This nomination will be for Canadian permanent residence.
The invitations sent by the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) are for applicants from the International Skilled Worker category. Those eligible for the SINP’s EE subcategory received the invitations in this draw.
There was a requirement of a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 70 to receive the invitation. In one of the 70 in-demand occupations, applicants also needed proper work experience. These in-demand occupations are listed on the government webpage.
All the recipients of the invitation had work experience in any one of the listed in-demand occupations. Some of these occupations include:
- Medical administrative assistants
- Wholesale and retail buyers
- Geological engineering
The SINP uses the EOI system to choose its candidates. Those chosen are the ones with the highest potential to succeed in the provincial labor market.
It is important for applicants to show their commitment to settling in Saskatchewan. They need to do so by showcasing their:
- Education
- Work experience
- Connections to the province
- Age
- Language ability
Saskatchewan awards applicants a score out of a total of 100. This score is exactly like the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. Those with the highest score receive an invitation to apply for a Saskatchewan PNP.
From November 2020 onwards, candidates who can speak both English and French receive more points from Saskatchewan.
Express Entry Sub-Category
During the last round of invitations, Saskatchewan sent invitations to those with profiles in the federal Express Entry pool.
This federal Express Entry system governs the pool of applicants for three primary economic-class immigration programs of Canada:
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
If federal EE applicants filled an EOI for Saskatchewan with a score of at least 70 on the SINP’s Points Assessment Grid, it is possible they may have been invited in the recent draw.
EE candidates applying and receiving a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan receive an additional 600 points. This is towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
This additional score more or less ensures that an applicant will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a forthcoming EE draw. A similar rule is applicable to any of the other PNP aligned with EE.
