Express Entry Candidates with a Minimum CRS Score of 352 Receives Alberta PNP Invitations

Alberta PNP sends out invitations to 159 Express Entry (EE) candidates in its last draw on February 16.

These candidates had a minimum CRS score of 352. The chosen candidates may now apply for the Alberta Express Entry stream.

Once these candidates apply for a provincial nomination, it will improve their status in the EE pool list. All the chosen candidates had a profile in the EE system.

Canada’s Express Entry is an application management system. It is meant for three Federal High Skilled immigration pathways:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Canadian Experience Class
  3. Federal Skilled Trades Program

Those who are eligible receive a score that is based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). They receive points based on several factors that pre-determined by the government.

These factors are chosen based on the fact that an applicant can prove to be useful for the country’s labour market. Some of these factors include:

  • Education
  • Work experience
  • Age
  • Language ability in either English or French

The IRCC holds EE draws regularly. They invite all those candidates who score the highest to apply for permanent residence.

Recipients of Alberta provincial nomination will invariably receive 600 extra CRS points. After adding these points to their overall score, the lowest-scoring candidate will receive a new score of 952 points.

Express Entry Stream of Alberta

This PNP is meant for EE candidates who have good ties to the province of Alberta. It is also applicable for those who can support the economic development and diversification priorities of the government.

Alberta will only consider applicants who are either working or living in the province during the ongoing pandemic.

It is also essential for candidates to have prior work experience from an eligible job. The AINP has a list of approved occupations that they will not consider. Apart from the jobs listed, AINP will consider all other occupations.

There was an increase in the number of occupations by the federal government on November 1, 2020. These occupations are not eligible for applying for an LMIA in Alberta.

Nonetheless, recipients of a Notification of Interest on or after November 1, 2020may be chosen. This selection will be through the Alberta Express Entry Stream. This is although these candidates may be working in a job for which the authorities will not process an LMIA.

Canada let Alberta issue 6,250 nomination certificates last year. However, due to the global pandemic, they had to reduce their allocation to 4,000.

All of these 4,000 nominations were issues by June of last year. Due to this, there were no draws during the second half of 2020. However, the number of nominations allowed to Alberta for this year is not yet released.
