IRCC Is Set To Launch Expression of Interest Process for Service Delivery Improvements

IRCC is all set to start an Express of Interest (EOI) process that will fund SDI projects on October 15, 2020. The EOI will be a part of their promise of delivering high-quality settlement services to newcomers.

SDI projects focused on developing original approaches since 2017. These approaches were to improve support towards the settlement and combination of newcomers. IRCC will allot close to $30 million in SDI funding for the first year.

This decision is a part of the government-wide answer to the ongoing pandemic. The money will be for the settlement services of newcomers. It will ensure that they recover from the pandemic viably.

Several settlement services have shifted online during the pandemic. SDI funding will assist IRCC in determining the type of services newcomers require. They will consider the increased dependence on the delivery of online services.

The SDI funding will aim at providing support to help all newcomers blend in the Covid-19 recovery period.

As a part of this process, different projects will face the below-mentioned priorities:

  • Supporting Technology: IRCC is on the lookout for projects that can identify various technologies. These technologies will be those that can provide remote settlement services. Such projects will point out hurdles that newcomers face while using these technologies and provide solutions to solve them.
  • Enhance Employer Support: The recent pandemic has created a negative impact on newcomers in terms of their job prospects. All the projects under this funding process will test various approaches. These approaches will try to inspire employers to participate more in the integration of newcomers.
  • Develop Necessary Tools And Skills: In this category, different firms with skills in the development and social research will partner with various IRCC-funded agencies. These firms will help them expand the tools and skills needed to design, evaluate, and research services for newcomers. This will help solve issues that newcomers face in terms of marginalization and racism.

All the funding recipients will have to provide regular reports to the IRCC during the project. These reports will reveal the lessons and results learned.

These projects shall aim to find improvement chances for IRCC’s high-quality Settlement Program. In turn, this will make it more effective and well-equipped to adjust to the requirements of newcomers.

These projects will help to support newcomers in their quest to blend in with others.
