British Columbia has sent out 195 invitations to immigration candidates in their new PNP draw. The draw was held on January 19, 2021.
The new invitations went to candidates from:
- The Skills Immigration (SI) categories.
- International Graduate categories.
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories.
The range of the minimum score for the draw was from 80 to 106 points.
The EEBC category is meant for those candidates who have a valid profile in the federal government’s EE system. The Express Entry (EE) is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants hoping to obtain Canadian permanent residence.
The SI category is for both skilled and semi-skilled workers. Their occupations are usually in high demand in British Columbia.
The Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) managed the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) categories. Eligible candidates need to register an account to apply through the SIRS.
Once this step is complete, candidates will receive personal scores. These scores will be based on various factors, such as work experience, education, and language proficiency.
Those candidates with the highest score receive an invitation to apply for the forthcoming BCPNP. Categories under the SIRS need candidates to have a job offer from a BC employer.
Below, you will find a proper breakdown of the sub-categories included in the January 19 draw. The minimum scores to receive an invitation for each sub-category is also mentioned.
- Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker – 96
- Skills Immigration: International Graduate – 96
- Skills Immigration Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled – 80
- Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker – 106
- Express Entry BC: International Graduate – 103
The recent global pandemic continues to impact the activities of specific businesses and sectors in BC. This is why some occupations still face exclusion from recent draws.
You will find a list of those occupations that were not included in the last draw on the BCPNP web page.
Invitees under the EEBC: International Graduate and EEBC: Skilled Worker can obtain an additional 600 points under the CRS. They can also obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) at a later federal EE draw if they are successful with the nomination.
EE is the application management system of the federal government. EE candidates receive points based on various human capital factors. These include work experience, language proficiency in French and English, age, and education.
Canada continues to hold EE draws on a bi-weekly basis. This is despite the present travel restrictions and border closures.
