REQUIREMENTS:
  • You must intend to permanently live and work in Alberta
  • At the time of the application, you must be living in Alberta on a valid work permit
  • You must have either:
    1. An Alberta Qualification Certificate in a compulsory or optional trade, or
    2. An Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Recognized Trade Certificate in a compulsory or optional trade.
  • At the time of the application:
    1. You must be working in trade for an employer in Alberta
    2. Or have experience working in trades for an employer in Alberta for at least 6 months in the past 3 years.

Full-time students who live and have graduated from an eligible post secondary institution in Alberta.

EMPLOYER DRIVEN STREAM

SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY

For persons who have been offered a full-time permanent skilled occupation job by an Alberta employer.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYERS:

  • You must be operating in Alberta. Your business must be registered or incorporated in Canada.
  • You must show that you made efforts to recruit within Canada before offering a job to the applicant
  • If required by the occupation, you must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
  • You must offer a job under the classified skill category
  • The job must meet Alberta’s employment and wage standards. The wage being offered must be consistent with industry standards.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

  • Must intend to work and live in Alberta permanently
  • Must be licensed, trained and have related work experience in order to work in Alberta
  • Have a valid work permit (if the applicant is currently working in Alberta)

Early childhood Educators or Childcare staff have additional requirements.

INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE CATEGORY

For full-time students who have recently graduated from an eligible Canadian postsecondary institution and have received a permanent full-time job offer from an employer in Alberta.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYERS:

  • You must be operating in Alberta. Your business must be registered or incorporated in Canada.
  • You must offer a job under the classified skill category
  • The job must meet Alberta’s employment and wage standards. The wage being offered must be consistent with industry standards.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

  • Must intend to work and live in Alberta permanently.
  • Have a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit.
  • You must be working in Alberta as a full-time employee for the employer supporting your application. The occupation must be the same as the one listed on the application.
  • If required by the occupation, you must submit language test score results.

SEMI-SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY

For temporary foreign workers who have been offered a permanent full-time semi-skilled job by an employer in Alberta.

INDUSTRIES ELIGIBLE UNDER THIS CATEGORY:

  1. Food and Beverage Processing
  2. Hotel and Lodging
  3. Manufacturing
  4. Long-Haul Trucking
  5. Food Services

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYERS:

  • You must be operating in Alberta. Your business must be registered or incorporated in Canada.
  • You must be operating on one of the eligible industries listed above.
  • You must offer a permanent full-time job
  • The job must meet Alberta’s employment and wage standards. The wage being offered must be consistent with industry standards.
  • Provide with a settlement and retention plan for the individual applicant.
  • If required by the occupation, you must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

  • You must at least have a high school diploma. (High School level education)
  • You must submit language test results
  • Meet the industry criteria
  • You must currently be working in an eligible occupation for an employer in Alberta on a valid work permit.
